The day started very early. I intern at Cyber3Lab so I was already in the office at 8:00 AM. I went for a toilet break about 45 minutes in and met Cesar De Greve on the way. Cesar is the team lead on the Howest Virtual Mirror (HVM) project. Together we went from Building J to Building A to prepare the booth for the Research Day.
Upon entering building A, I received a badge that had my name on it, to identify me as a participant in the Research Day. It was a nice touch, and I felt more official with it on.
The setup
We had to set up a few things, like two TVs, my laptop, two webcams, and a few other things. The booth was located right at the end of the room, so we were in the centre of the action.
People seemed to like it
The booth was very busy, with people coming in and out to see the demo of the HVM. I was able to explain how it works and what it can be used for. People seemed to like it, and I was happy to see that my work was appreciated.
My role
Cesar, the team lead, was busy networking with guests, so I was in charge of the booth. I was able to explain the project to many people, including students, faculty, and industry professionals. It was a great opportunity to showcase the work we are doing at Cyber3Lab and to get feedback from people who are interested in the project.
